A brief history
Till the year 1982, very few resident of Chandigarh city and its surrounding areas, owned cars. With likely introduction of Maruti, people starting sensing some good car market in the city. By judging the general public requirement, the idea of starting a good car market clicked the mind of Shri. Yash Pal Gupta, Father of Mr. Rajesh Kumar Gupta. with regard to putting up Cars available for Sale / Purchase and started operations at Madhya Marg, Sector-7-C, Chandigarh which got huge public response.
As a matter of fact, the concept of starting Car Market in Chandigarh was the brainchild of the late father of Mr. Rajesh Kumar Gupta who was the first to start the same in North India and this fact is well known to most of the Car-owners of this area. Today our third generation has joined this family business too.
With the opening up of demand many a customers started thronging Chandigarh from adjoining areas in search for quality used Cars. Apart from Chandigarh, buyer and sellers from all over the region, e.g. Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, part of Uttar Pradesh, Assam etc., started visiting Gupta Cars for their car sale/purchase/exchange requirements.

With the passage of time, the business picked up like anything and many other entered the business. Later on a Car Dealers Association (Regd.) came into existence, and today, it has 45 main dealers on its rolls, having Sub-Dealers network, through whom they operate. Apart from this, more than 1000 employees, workers, runners etc. are in this business. Today, Chandigarh has huge car repair and spares market which is entirely dependent on this business. Overall, if rightly assessed, this business & their families caters to the bread and butter of atleast 20000 person. Today, Chandigarh is known as the Used Car Hub of Asia, having biggest sales / purchase market.
